To download a single image in Canva, place it on your canvas, go to Share > Download, select the file type (like JPEG or PNG), choose “Current Page,” and hit download.
For multiple images, select them all, right-click, and choose “Download Selection” with transparent background enabled for best results.

Downloading images from Canva can be super easy once you know where to look.

Whether you’re grabbing one stock photo or several icons, Canva gives you a few simple methods.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to download both single and multiple images — perfect for bloggers, marketers, or anyone using Canva to create visual content.

Method 1: Download a Single Image

Step 1: Place the image on your design

  1. Open your Canva design and drag the image you want to download onto the canvas.
  2. Adjust the image size as needed, making it full page if desired.

Step 2: Download the image

  1. Click Share in the top right corner.
  2. Select Download.
  3. Choose your file type: JPEG or PNG.
  4. Check the Current Page to ensure you’re downloading only the image you want.
  5. Click Download.

Method 2: Download Multiple Images at Once

Step 1: Select the images

Click and drag to select all the images you want to download — this works best for icons or grouped visuals.

Step 2: Use “Download Selection”

  1. Right-click on the selected images.
  2. Choose Download Selection.
  3. Pick PNG format and enable Transparent background for clean cutouts.
  4. Adjust file size and quality if needed.
  5. Download the file to your computer — you’ll get a group of images in one file.
In Canva, the “Download Selection” option only shows up when you select two or more elements. If you select just one image or icon, Canva doesn’t offer this option because it treats your selection like a full-page design. That’s why there are workarounds: either place one image per page or add a transparent shape behind it to trick Canva into allowing selection-based downloads.

Method 3: Workaround for Isolated Downloads

This method is useful when you want to save individual icons or images without needing to crop them later.

Step 1: Add one image per page

  1. Create a new page for each image you want to download.
  2. Copy and paste one image onto each page by itself.

Step 2: Download specific pages

  1. Click Share and choose Download.
  2. Under “Select pages,” pick the pages with your images.
  3. Choose PNG or JPEG, then download.

This way, you get each image as a clean, individual file — no cropping or editing needed.

Method 4: Use a Transparent Shape Behind the Image

If you only want to download one image but still use the “Download Selection” method, here’s a neat trick using a transparent shape.

Step 1: Place a transparent shape

  1. Insert a shape (like a square) and place it behind your image.
  2. Set the transparency of the shape to 0% so it becomes invisible.

Step 2: Select both items and download

  1. Hold Shift and select both the image and the transparent shape.
  2. Right-click and choose Download Selection.
  3. Select PNG with transparent background and download.

This method helps you download a single image cleanly without cropping or needing a separate page.
