How do you choose the best Canva fonts?

Here’s my guide on how to choose the best Canva aesthetic fonts for your branding and general designs:

1. Understand your brand purpose, personality, and identity

Your font choice has a lot to say about your brand or the particular design you used it for.

What’s the message you’re trying to convey?

Whether it’s professional, fun, or edgy, the font you choose should align with your project’s purpose.

You can’t have a very serious font for a children’s project, for example, or a kids font for a corporate presentation.

Another way to look at it is, if you’re looking to create a brand that reflects modernity, sans-serif fonts may be a better option. They’re modern, simple, and minimalistic in appearance.

On the other hand, serif fonts are more suitable for traditional brands or brands that are strong on core professionalism. As a vintage font style, it dates back to the 18th century and has been seen in some of the popular history books.

2. Consider readability and legibility

Remember, if they can’t read it, it doesn’t matter how beautiful it looks!

Opt for fonts that are easy on the eyes, especially for longer texts. Sans-serif fonts like Open Sans are often favored for their readability.

3. Consider font pairings

Creative fonts are attention grabbers. So be careful of combining many aesthetic fonts in a body of text, as it can end up being difficult to read.

Consider how the Canva font you’re choosing will pair with other fonts before adding it to your designs.

For instance, you could have a beautiful font as a headline, and combine it with Open Sans or Roboto for longer texts.

4. Check for its application across different media

Your brand identity should be the same across all media platforms, both print, web, and mobile.

Your choice of fonts will play a vital role in making that possible. So make sure to choose fonts that don’t give off a different look on different media platforms.

FAQ: Top 35 Aesthetic Fonts in Canva

Some of my top picks for aesthetic fonts in Canva are Quiche for luxury branding, Dream Avenue for a friendly, hand-drawn look, and Manison for a bold, vintage style.

For a fancy touch, Higuen Elegant Serif and Gilda Display are excellent choices for upscale, elegant designs. Black Mango and Billion Miracles add bold, artistic flair, perfect for attention-grabbing projects. Many fancy fonts on Canva require Canva Pro, but some like Gilda Display are available for free.

There isn’t one “best” font; it depends on the tone you want to set. Quiche is versatile for luxury and modern looks, Edinburgh is ideal for an authoritative feel, and Alex Brush brings elegance to formal designs. Consider your project’s theme and readability when choosing the best font.

For a clean, modern look, I recommend Kiona and Hatton for their sleek, simple lines. Carolin is another great choice for minimalist designs with a luxurious feel. These fonts create a professional, modern impression while keeping things understated and stylish.

Start by matching the font to your brand’s personality. Modern brands might use sleek sans-serifs like Kiona, while classic brands can opt for elegant fonts like Prata. Consider readability, pairing options, and cross-platform consistency to keep your brand cohesive.
